| INTRODUCTION |

 

Drug Safety Africa 2018 is a first for Africa.  This conference presents state-of-the-art lectures covering the main topics safety pharmacology, toxicology, clinical drug safety and precision medicine, and will include contributions from academia as well as industry, with scientists and regulators involved in drug safety testing. The conference will provide a forum for regulators for new developments in drug safety testing.

| PURPOSE |

 

|  Drug Safety Africa 2018 is a first for Africa.  This conference presents state-of-the-art lectures covering the main topics safety pharmacology, toxicology, clinical drug safety and precision medicine, and will include contributions from academia as well as industry, with scientists and regulators involved in drug safety testing. The conference will provide a forum for regulators for new developments in drug safety testing.

|  To bring African scientists, now involved with the testing of drug safety, together with international experts to discuss both established and novel approaches for the determination of preclinical drug safety.

|  To provide a forum for identifying new partnerships and collaborations devoted to finding new, safe drugs to address unmet medical need in Africa and world-wide.

|  To showcase newly established drug safety testing infrastructure in Southern Africa.

|  To inform regulators about new methodologies for preclinical drug development, with a focus on testing for drug safety.

|  To identify existing shortcomings or lacking infrastructure for addressing essential aspects of drug safety.

|  Meeting with pre- and post-doctoral students discussing career opportunities in drug safety.
